Expert answers to commonly asked questions.

Q: What does it mean for a company to be IICRC-certified?
A: The IICRC (the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification) was formed in 1972 to serve as an independent, non-profit certification body, to set and promote high standards and ethics; and to advance communication and technical proficiency within the inspection, cleaning and restorative service industry.

The IICRC certification is based upon successful completion of a class in which the curriculum follow industry standards for that category as well as achieving a passing grade on a standardized exam. Once certification is achieved, registrants must earn Continuing Education Credits to maintain their certification.

Consumers should know that when they hire an IICRC-certified technician or firm, they have hired experts who will ensure that services will be completed in accordance with the industry’s highest standards. Encore Cleaning and Restoration is an IICRC-certified service provider.

Q: Why should I have my carpet professionally cleaned?
A: Your carpet collects bio-contaminants, volatile organic compounds, combustion products, asbestos, dust mites, chemical contamination, outdoor pollutants, pesticides, allergens, grease and oil deposits, sand, soil, food particles, bacteria and more. Your carpet clings on to these contaminants and affects the air in your home affecting your health and allergy problems. Regular cleanings will prevent contaminants from affecting your carpet and health.

Q: How often should a carpet be cleaned?
A: To preserve the lifetime of the carpet, it is best to have it cleaned every 12 to 18 months by qualified professionals. Soil build up and foot traffic cause the wear on the carpet.

Q: Why should I have my carpets protected with Scotchgard?
A: The protectant wraps around each carpet fiber, resisting moisture. This allows for successful spill clean up. The Scotchgard protectant also protects the carpet from typical wear and tear, including excessive matting.

Q: What types of stains can you get out?
A: Yellowing, filtration soiling, urine, vomit, blood, rust, red dye, lipstick, furniture stain, soft drinks, tea & coffee, ketchup, mustard, paint, and more.

Q: What should I do before you come to clean my floor?
A: Thank you for trusting us with your home’s floor cleaning project. When we’re done, your home will be clean, fresh and beautiful! Click here to download some suggestions for you to prepare for our visit.

Q: Do you move furniture?
A: Our trained technicians will move your furniture carefully and respectfully as a part of the cleaning services.

Q: How soon can I walk on the carpet after cleaning?
A: After 3 to 4 hours, carpet is safe for light traffic. Allow for a full 24 hours of drying time before regular traffic resumes (children, pets, furniture).

Q: What payment methods do you accept?
A: We gladly accept cash, check or credit card at the time of completion of the service.
